Vernacular Crafts, Culture & Folklife Day

Saturday August 15th ~ 11am – 4pm

Larchill is hosting a celebration of traditional crafts, culture and folklife on Saturday August 15th to highlight Ireland’s heritage at risk. Free tickets – please book tickets in advance.

Saturday will include talks and demonstrations will include:  lilting and whistling by Liam Jones, basketry with Beth Murphy; discussions on cob-walled buildings by Dr Seamus Cullen; demonstrations of greenwood vernacular furniture making by Dylan Mcguirk; Hannah Gallagher (National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park House) will discuss old Irish clothing (with examples); and the Mummers of Fingal will perform a Mummers play as well as hosting a Mummers hat workshop.

Examples of vernacular furniture and crafts will be on display, and all those present can also enjoy walks around the gardens and lake.

Saturday August 15th is free of charge. Free tickets must be reserved in advance. Limited tickets available.

There will be a Craft and Country Market on Sunday 16th from 10am to 2pm. Everyone welcome – €2 entry on the door.
